The three of us are all healthy and well. Praise God!
Janet has just finished up her thirty-ninth year as a Physical Therapist - what a run! She helps patients get up and walk and rehab after every kind of surgery and malady you can think of. She is amazing at this. She is considering retirement dates. We don’t have a date just yet but the conversation has come up a time or two this year. She continues to serve on the shepherding team at church (as do I) and serves many with her prayers, her wisdom, and her one of a kind hugs. Annie is now a full time nanny. She is so outstanding with her children. She enjoys kids under 5 and prepares a little something new each day for them. Her patience is really something. Annie is active at church on the worship team and tech team. She will be headed back to school this spring at the Rhode Island College to work on her pre K degree. We are very proud of her! The big highlight for Janet and me was our anniversary trip to England and Scotland in the fall - the trip of a lifetime. I got to stand on the 700 year old Swilcan Bridge at the home of golf in St. Andrews. I could not believe it! We loved the ancientness of every town, the accents that charmed us in every conversation, and the timing of history as we were there for the burial honors of Queen Elizabeth II. It was magical. As for me, I am ridiculously blessed. I enjoyed a lot of golf this year and am thankful my back held out pretty well. I love being outside and golf can be an excellent walk outside (interspersed with differing levels of athletic success, lol!) My life is still centered around many Kingdom projects. Besides serving at the Feast Church in Providence, I serve on the board of our local food pantry which feeds about 50 people in a given week. I am also a board member for a mission project in Liberia with the Providence Church of Christ (we hope to open our 500 student capacity school next fall). Most of my time is spent as the director of coaching at Kairos Church Planting. I help guide couples who have the dream of starting a new church. We teach them how to turn a dream into a plan for gathering new teams, making new relationships, and serving in local communities the way Jesus did. I know for many of us in the church world, this has been an incredibly difficult season. I have really good news though. In my many travels I am meeting dozens and dozens of men and women in their 20s and 30s that want to share the good news of Jesus for this time! We can take heart, God is raising up new leaders and they will be planting new churches here in America which is so encouraging to see. Please keep them before the Lord in your prayers. I don’t know anything of more eternal value than what they are doing. Also as I work with them and as we close out the year, I’d personally be honored by any year end gift of support for my family. I fundraise the majority of my salary and 100% of the gift you would offer would go to that purpose. So thanks for considering giving! So good to share a note with all of you. I’d love to hear from any of you as well! May the peace of the child in the manger be in your heart and in your home this holiday! Bruce |
Strong Christian CoachingAs a church planting minister, I've experienced the challenges that face ministry leaders today. It is vital, for those stepping into the mission of God, to have support, encouragement, and strong Christian coaching.
Bruce is that strength and support. If it were not for his faithful longevity of support and coaching accountability, I would not be where I am today. Johnathan Thomas Wenatchee, WA |
Honesty with CompassionCoaching with Bruce has been my sanity in the crazy world of church planting. His ability to listen attentively and respond compassionately has allowed me to be honest about where I am and has assured me that I’m not alone in the process.
Because of our strong relationship, Bruce is able to challenge me and point me in a great direction with practical suggestions. Joe Carr Boston, MA |
Someone Who CaresCoaching with Bruce is one of my highlights each month, especially during this season that has been so challenging.
During this time of extreme challenge and unknowns, what I have needed more than anything is to know that someone cares, hears me, is praying for me and will help me think through the emotional, practical, and spiritual reality of my context and work. Bruce is the best! Jared King Seattle, WA |
