Thanking God for Easter Blessings

Picture
We don't have our final Easter numbers in yet, but we can already see that so many of
your prayers were answered. We saw New People in New Churches in New Places!
Pray with us for:
  • Hope for the hopeless
  • The excitement of Easter to continue in the weeks ahead
  • Your friend or neighbor
  • Those who came to church on Easter for the first time in a long time...or maybe the first time ever!

Disrupted in Seattle

3/2/2018

We should know by now to expect disruption.

A planter spends months or years preparing to launch a church and, just before launch, things go haywire.

It's the Kings' turn. A month before Missio Church's planned launch, they found out:

1. The house they live in has been sold and they need to move. Now.

2. The meeting place for Missio Church will be unavailable on launch day for renovations.

Please join us in urgent prayer for Jared & Laura King as they go through major adjustments.
  • As they move next week
  • As they prepare for Missio Church's new launch date of April 29
  • That God will be glorified in all the unexpected changes

ON THE MOVE

Renovatus Church of Christ in Vancouver, WA, has been meeting in the Grange Hall since 2009.

Imagine their surprise when they read in the paper that their Grange is being sold and knocked down so 26 new houses can be built in its place!

Kevin Woods, the church planter at Renovatus, was pleased that his people's response was,
“Huh! I wonder what God’s going to do next?”

Pray with us for Renovatus...
  • For them to find a new meeting place
  • For protection against Satan's attacks (not just the church as a whole, but individuals who have been going through intense trauma this year)
  • For the new place to draw in new people

Praise for...
  • The faith of this scrappy church
  • The ongoing commitment of supporters who believe Renovatus is doing a necessary work
  • The transformed spirits of Kevin and Brenda Woods and how they minister to their community

Seattle Bound!

This group of bright-eyed kingdom workers is about to set off on a grand adventure. Westward! They are launching out from their time with the WolfLIFE campus ministry at Arkansas State University to plant a new campus ministry at the University of Washington in Seattle.

This new ministry will be called Sojourn, a reminder that we are all travelers on this earth (perhaps no one more than the college crowd) and that we follow and worship a man who sojourned through life.

Please Pray!
  • For the big move. The Jarchows and Sears travel to Seattle this week, the Pollards will join them in August, and Darryl will follow soon.
  • For team members' transtitions into Seattle, for them to learn how to communcate good news in a new culture
  • For God to raise up 5 students at the UW who will start the process of getting Sojourn recognized as a Registered Student Organization
  • For the relationship between Sojourn Campus Ministry and Missio Church

How blessed we are in America to have the freedom to pray out loud. Today, May 4, is National Day of Prayer.

How thankful we at Kairos are for all of you who pray constantly, not just one day a year. Your prayers are a sweet aroma to God.

Let's join together to pray for our country today. Pray for your state, your town, your neighbors.

Join us in praying for:
  • Our nation's leaders
  • Continued Freedom to worship and pray
  • Boldness to speak out with Good News

“O Lord, Listen! O Lord, Forgive! O Lord, Hear and Act! For Your Sake, O My God...”. Daniel 9:19

It's Friday, But Sunday's Coming

4/21/2017

Picture
Sunday is Easter. While many of us celebrate the resurrection of Jesus all the time, Easter Sunday is the one day a year our country remembers.

It is also the only Sunday of the year that many people will set foot in church.

Church planters and new churches across the country will be busy this weekend hosting activities, inviting guests, and welcoming new people into worship.

Join us in praying for:
  • God's spirit to nudge people to be at church this Sunday (and those people to listen)
  • Planters and teachers to speak truth and share Good News
  • Follow-up conversations with first-time guests

People We Know

Thank you for your faithful prayers for church planters. Today, we invite you to pray WITH them in addition to praying FOR them. Here are a few people our planters are praying for. (We're withholding their full names since these are people who don't necessarily know they are the subject of many prayers.)

  • C. is recently divorced.
  • A. is battling loneliness.
  • M. & I. are seeking.
  • The C. family used to be in ministry but were burned by church and church people. They are reconnecting with God's family through a small group.
  • The A. family are open to praying with one of our planters, but are not yet comfortable stepping into a church.
  • The J. family is involved in a small group. One of them lost one parent recently and will lose the other one soon.
  • M.G. is recently divorced, seeking relationships and healing.
  • J. is new in town and looking for a place to belong.
  • W. is trying to reconcile what she wants to believe with how she's seen the church respond to homosexuals.
  • A. used to be actively seeking, but has walked away without explanation.
  • L. is an agnostic who is facing a severe health crisis.
  • K. made some bad choices that estranged her from her children. She is surrendering to the Lordship of Jesus this Sunday.
Who are YOU praying for? Can we pray with you? Email us or post your prayer on our Facebook page.

First Discovery Lab of 2017

3/1/2017

Picture
At least twice a year, Kairos assembles a team of interviewers to lead a group of young church leaders and potential church planters through a discovery process to assess their readiness to step into ministry.

This weekend, 8 candidates will gather with the Kairos team for a intensive week of interviews, but their work started weeks or months ago as they filled out extensive applications, underwent a series of assessments, and gathered references and sermons that show our team a pattern of how God has already been using them.

Please pray with us for:
  • God to speak clearly into the lives of these young leaders
  • The interview team to listen and hear the Spirit's leading
  • God to raise up leaders for churches and ministries across the nation
If you think this discovery process sounds like something you need to do, start with a self-assessment and we'll be in touch with you.
