(make this personal. What compels Ron to leave Agape and step into this role with Kairos? Who is he trying to connect with and how does Kairos do that?)
Ron Clark is the Executive Director for Kairos Church Planting. Before stepping into his role as director, Ron and his wife Lori were church planters. Agape Church of Christ in Portland, OR was the 3rd Kairos church plant. It reached those on the margins while empowering Christians to offer hope to all people. Agape members partnered with local agencies in domestic abuse, trafficking/prostitution, houselessness and lower income families, and building healthy families. Agape provided internships to mentor church leaders, elder/shepherding couples, ministry apprenticeships, domestic violence and trafficking advocates, and church planters. Agape helped launch two new congregations and 5 ministry couples. Ron is an adjunct faculty member at George Fox University and Portland Seminary as a doctoral adviser in the seminary’s D.Min program. He completed his M.Div and D.Min from Harding School of Theology in Memphis, TN. Ron has served on the Oregon Attorney General’s Sexual Assault Task Force, Community Against Domestic Violence, Allies in Change, Building Caring Families, and Portland’s Village Coalition for Houseless Individuals. He also serves as Co-Chair of the New Testament and the World of Early Christianity Section for the Pacific Northwest Regional Society of Biblical Literature. He has authored books and articles addressing theology, domestic abuse and the church, healthy masculinity, Biblical Studies, marriage, and ministry. He has also taught and spoken throughout the United States and in Canada, Mexico, Albania, Colombia, India, and Malawi. If you would like him to speak at your church or organization, |
